Being Someone Who Cares

Happy Tuesday!  We had a warmer day today here in the Midwest.  The sun was shining!  I hope it was a beautiful day where you are as well.  You may have noticed I didn't blog yesterday.  As you know, part of my February Quest is to Share Love, and I was just too busy showing my love to someone yesterday to blog.

Let's catch up!

Flossing
OK, it kind of makes me giggle every time I write the word floss.  I mean, who really blogs about flossing?  Well, this girl does because if I had not made it a Quest for this month, I'm pretty sure I would have given up on it already.

I know it sounds overly dramatic (and I'm not denying that it is), but seriously...I do not enjoy flossing my crammed together bottom teeth, but I have done it each day!

Exercise
A couple days ago I mentioned that while running during my C25K training, I did something to my knee, because it started hurting while I was running.   Yesterday it was still hurting, so I thought I would just walk on the treadmill.  I walked a mile, and even though I wanted to walk longer, I knew I shouldn't push my knee any further.  It hurt all day yesterday and was still hurting when I woke up this morning.

I know....go ahead and laugh...because how sad is it that I lasted 2 whole days running before I hurt myself...running.  It truly is proof that I do not have a runner's body.  And let me tell you, Hubby has had a bit of fun teasing me over my "running injury".  Sigh.

I'm hoping if I go easy with it for a few days, I'll be okay and can get back to running.  Not because I love to run, mind you, but because I really want to run the 5k with my niece, The Producer.  She is my only niece and I adore her.  She is a very one-of-kind person.  She is confident in who she is and what she can do.

The Producer organized a group of people to be on her team for the 5k run which happens to be near her birthday.  To add to the fun, we will do this run to celebrate her birthday.  As an even cooler bonus, she set up our run to be a fundraiser for Autism Speaks.  I have several friends who love and care for a child on the spectrum and I am excited that this is the cause she chose to support.

The Producer celebrated her birthday last year by doing a fundraiser as well. So I will get my knee better and I will get back to running.  I really want to be a part of her team!  I look forward to celebrating her birthday and raising money for a very special cause!

Today, I put a brace on my knee and carefully did some Pilates to exercise.  Hopefully in a day or two, I will be back to walking/running.  I have a very worthy goal to meet.

Share Love
Yesterday, I worked on a project that Hubby has been patiently waiting on me to accomplish.  It's an ongoing "opposites attract" issue in our marriage.  For a good part of the afternoon and evening, I worked on this project and finally got caught up on it.  Now, the real trial will be me maintaining it.  I really want to show my love to Hubby and make this a daily priority.

Today I had the opportunity to share my love through supporting a couple people who are each going through a difficult time.  I listened, encouraged, and prayed for them.

I hurt for both of them and what they are going through. I am also grateful that they took the time to call me and let me share in their burden and love them through it.  Sometimes you just need to know that someone cares.

As I work on this Share Love Quest, I am finding there are all kinds of ways to Share Love.  Whether it's through the efforts of organizing a fundraiser or just listening when someone calls, there are just so many different ways to show love to others.

  1. Love the idea that you are running for a cause! It's even more giving of yourself to do something that you don't really like to do. I applaud you

  2. Thank you, but all credit goes to my niece. She is the one who came up with the idea. Isn't setting up a fundraiser a fantastic way to celebrate your birthday? She's awesome.
