We made Popcorn Strings and Watched a Christmas Movie, so I checked ideas #23 & #24 off my list today!
String Real Popcorn & Watch A Christmas Movie
Our family loves real popcorn. We have owned numerous Stir Crazy Popcorn Poppers. We love it so much, that we usually have a "back up popper" just in case our current popper would go out. We will eat microwave popcorn in a pinch, but all four of us really loves the taste of real popped popcorn.
After all the bowls of popcorn I have popped over the years, it seems a little crazy that we have never taken the time to string some of that popcorn for garland for our Christmas tree! I guess it was just too tempting to eat!
Tonight I popped a big bowl of popcorn and then handed some silver thread to our Engineer, and some gold thread to our Scientist. We gathered around the popcorn bowl and started stringing popcorn, piece by piece onto our threads.
Hubby turned on the original "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" DVD and we settled in to enjoy the movie while we made our garlands. We sang along to the "Grinch Song" - a favorite, as you may remember, of our Engineer. It didn't take long for each of us to make a nice long garland. As the movie wrapped up, we added our popcorn garland to our Christmas tree.
Tonight it was such fun to watch our boys enjoy celebrating Christmas in a way we had never done before. It was sweet family time. Their laughter and smiles warmed my heart. And I cherished it.
One week until Christmas!
