I have to say, I'm only on Day 2, but I already feel like I'm putting much more effort into truly Cherishing Christmas this year.
Today I continued what I began yesterday - Decorating & Devotions, but I also began reading a Christmas Novel (check off #3 from my list) - The Christmas Carol.
Putting Up Decorations
I think by making this an item to check off my list, I actually completed decorating in record time this year! Everything is out the way I want it -AND (this is VERY BIG NEWS) - all the boxes are back in the basement!
I'm completely done with decorating our home for Christmas. It's December 2. Record time.
And I admit it's entirely because I knew I would be sitting down to post this blog tonight.
It's called motivation and I obviously have needed it for...oh...about 23 Christmas'.
And Shout Out to Hubby for happily carrying all the boxes back downstairs for me. He's a keeper. And I'm pretty sure he is thankful for the motivation too.
Devotions
I'm realizing I really like reading two different Christmas Devotionals which give me two different ways to ponder Jesus - the whole reason we are celebrating this season.
Today one focused on Jesus being the "most unique, one-of-a-kind gift" we could ever receive. What a description of Jesus! We will never receive a better gift - humbling.
The other one shared Jesus' baptism by John. And I love what John says about Jesus: "I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God." - John 1:34.
John is a witness. It's true. Jesus IS the Son of God.
The reason we celebrate this most special time of year.
The Christmas Carol
I can't tell you how many versions of that wonderful Christmas Tale - "The Christmas Carol" I have seen, but I have to admit, I have never read the novel that started it all.
Last year the Engineer read it for Literature, and I thought then that I should read it too. But then sometime in the middle of January 2012, I realized it wasn't going to happen for Christmas 2011.
This year, I making time. So today, I checked Read a Christmas Novel off my list. Well, I didn't finish it in one day - I was decorating and reading devotionals as well, but I do plan to finish it before the end of the month, so three items checked off!
Are you finding ways to Cherish Christmas? Do share!
Only 23 days to go...
Have a Blessed Christmas!
I am really looking forward to reading these everyday! Christmas is the best time of year and I love that you are looking for new ways to make it even more special(: RGP (I don't know if I have a nickname to refer to myself as yet)
