December's Quest: Cherish Christmas

December is just a day away and I am super excited to kick off my very first Heart & Spirit Monthly Quest on Saturday!

I have been gathering ideas of how I want to spend some time each day of December "Cherishing Christmas".

I have a pretty good list - WAY more than 30 ideas, as a matter of fact.  I will probably do a couple items some days.  Some I might not get to this year, but that's ok because I love traditions, so we will see how this goes...maybe I'll do this Quest every December.

Some of the items on the list are things I do every Christmas or have done in the past,  however, many of them are new ideas that maybe I have wanted to do but never made the time to do them.  A couple ideas are brand new to me and I thought they might be fun to try.

AND there may even be a few surprises that are not on the list.  You will just have to follow my blog posts to find out if I do any surprise ideas.

I have selected certain days of the month for some of the items on my list.  Other days, I will have to watch for opportunities to do some of the ideas.  Either way, I have been so excited about planning this Quest, that it has REALLY put me in the Christmas spirit this year - and I already look forward to and love Christmas every year!

Maybe this year is different because I am coming out of a "blue hue".  Maybe that will make the JOY of Christmas all the more joyful.  I'm feeling it already!

So if you happen to be joining me on this Quest or if you are just a bit curious what this Quest is all about, here's my list of ideas so far:

So these are my ideas so far.  I reserve the right to think of others as the month progresses.

Some of these are pretty obvious ideas, but how many times have you planned to do something to celebrate Christmas and sometime in the middle of January you are wondering what happened?

Of course we have received (or maybe even mailed) Christmas cards after New Year's and once our family even got a Valentine Christmas Letter from friends.

I don't mind because I just love hearing from everyone, but this year I hope to do something every single day of the month to focus on Christmas in a positive, Christ focused, family loving way.

Do you have an idea for me that isn't on the list?  Please share!

Have a Blessed Day!

True Blue Honesty

Sometimes a Rosie Outlook can turn a little blue.  Although I do try to live life in a positive way, there have been days, that have turned into months, that have turned into years where I have struggled to maintain my Rosie glow.

Honestly, I am coming out of one of those times right now.  Struggling to break free from the blue hue prompted me to begin this Blogging and Quest Adventure.  I won't bore you with all the mundane details that clouded my outlook, but let's just say I haven't been exactly where I have wanted to be for awhile.

You see, I was living the life...in sunshine and happiness...with real palm trees blowing in the breeze...when God literally moved our family.  Although there were several great advantages to our new location, it really wasn't where I wanted to be.

And I truly thought I had some good reasons for wanting to live elsewhere.

But God had a different plan.

For nearly 15 months it has been a daily battle with me.  I wake up determined to have a better attitude, but somewhere in the day I lose my resolve and just want to curl up in my hug chair and pout.

Wow.  There.  I said it out loud.  And it wasn't easy.  Sometimes the truth isn't.

It's time for me to stop looking back. (I mean really, at this point I should be a pillar of salt!)

So here I am... ready to make some much needed positive changes.  I'm going to put on my Rosie shaded glasses and enjoy living in God's Will.

I am working on my ideas for my Cherish Christmas Quest for December. The Adventure is about to begin and I am getting excited.  Are you ready for an adventure?   Grab your Rosie shaded glasses and join me!

Have a Blessed Day!

Inspiring Video

So it turns out doing something for 30 days to make a change in your life is not an entirely original concept.  While working on my list of ideas for the changes I want to make, I did a little Internet research and discovered this great video by Matt Cutts.  Matt Cutts is a Google software engineer and currently the head of Google’s Webspam team.  I found this video to be way more entertaining and inspiring than anything I could come up with, so please take a moment to watch it.

Video:  Matt Cutts 30 Day Challenge

I'm going to get back to work on my list of ideas.  Watch for that post coming soon!

Heart & Spirit Monthly Quest

*From December 2012 - November 2013 I took this Year Long Adventure.
To follow my Heart & Spirit Monthly Quest journey read my Blog posts during this time frame.*

So where did this idea come from?  I was thinking about my friends who were posting something they were thankful for every day in November.  I have done this in the past and I think it's a great way to honor the spirit of Thanksgiving.

You know, it's been said that it takes 30 days to create a habit.  Maybe posting something for 30 days creates a thankful heart.  What a positive side effect!

So, with that in mind, what other positives could come out of doing something for 30 days?  I have a list of things I would like to accomplish, but never take the time to do them!

The crazy thing is, most of what I want to do wouldn't take that long.  If I do a little something each day for a month, I could easily mark items off my list and make positive changes in my heart and in my life.

Some of these changes I would like to make permanently in my life.  For those changes, I would continue them into the next month, and hopefully into my daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, life altering routine.

Would anyone like to join me in this quest?

You can do this Heart & Spirit Quest either on a month by month basis or as a "New Year's Resolution" 12 month kind of plan.  I am going to take the entire 2013 Year Long Adventure.  I've never done anything like this before, so it will be a true adventure to see if I can stick with it and accomplish my goals for a year - one month at a time.

So here's the Heart & Spirit Quest plan:

Step 1: Make a List

*It can be anything you would like to change!
Click here for Heart & Spirit Quest Ideas

Step 2: Get a Calendar

*It can be a wall calendar, pocket calendar, an app on your electronic device, or even hand-drawn if you like.  Something that you will see every day to remind you of your daily plan

Step 3: Create your Plan

*Choose your first item off your list, sit down with your calendar and spend some time thinking about how you will accomplish your goal by doing something every day.  Make it attainable.  Don't challenge yourself so much, that you give up a few days into it after you realize it's just too much!  Make it doable!

Step 4: Let me know

*I'll be posting about what I am working on and I would love to hear from you as well!  Let's keep each other accountable and stick to accomplishing the change we are seeking!  As an added bonus, it will be fun to celebrate together at the end of each month!

Step 5: Enjoy the changes you are making, share with me the frustrations you are having, and focus on your heart and spirit while you accomplish each day's task.

I'm going to start in December and make that month a Cherish Christmas month.  Then I will kick off my 2013 Year Long Adventure in January.  So there is plenty of time to think, plan, and organize before joining me in my quest.

AND If you are finding something to be Thankful for each day in November, then you have already begun!

Have a Blessed Day!
